Santa Teresita Roman Catholic Church is a Parish of the Catholic Diocese of Phoenix. Our church is in the heart of historic El Mirage. Santa Teresita began as a mission in the 1940’s and became an official parish in the late 1960’s. Our Parish serves the communities of El Mirage and Surprise with our parish boundaries stretching out west as far as the White Tank Mountains. Father Stephen Schack is the current pastor. He has served the parish for 12 years and is currently the longest surviving Pastor. Father Steve has set a mission to educate the parishioners on what was discovered in Vatican II. The Second Vatican Council was formally opened in 1962 under the pontificate of Pope Saint John XXIII and closed under Pope Paul VI. The rediscovery of Baptism was one of many fruits of Vatican II. In May of 2005, Bishop Thomas James Olmsted promulgated the new policy and guidelines concerning the restoration of the order of Sacraments of Initiation in the Diocese of Phoenix. It is important for Catholic Christians to be educated in their Catholic faith by understanding Sacramental Life, Traditions of the Church, and the Great Commission to make disciples of all nations.
